Our AI Opportunity Mapping Workshop brings structure to this process. In approximately six hours, we work with your teams to develop 2–3 prioritized use cases that serve as a solid foundation for making concrete implementation decisions.

Who is this workshop for?

The workshop is designed for companies that want to use AI strategically and are looking for a structured entry point. A basic understanding of AI technologies is helpful, but deeper technical knowledge is not required.

Successful AI initiatives need diverse perspectives: business understanding, technical expertise, and domain knowledge. That’s why different roles can and should be represented in the workshop – such as executives and department heads, product and process owners, UX and design roles, data owners, and IT and architecture roles. This creates use cases that are not only feasible, but also deliver actual business value and fit into existing processes.

We conduct the workshop either on-site or remotely, depending on your needs. For a successful workshop, participation should be limited to 5–7 people.

From Challenges and Opportunities to Use Cases

The workshop takes you from initial considerations to concrete options for action. We systematically identify challenges and opportunities in your domain, develop appropriate solution approaches using proven methods, and structure and evaluate the most promising use cases in the AI Opportunity Mapping Canvas.

We examine the specific challenges in your domain:

• Where are the inefficiencies?
• Where are the growth opportunities?
• What potential remains untapped?

We combine our experience from numerous data and AI projects with your domain expertise. This creates use cases that can be implemented and fit your business. Evaluation based on impact, feasibility, and available data shows which applications are truly worthwhile and where you should start first.

Goals and Outcomes

At the end of the workshop, you’ll have:

• A clear overview of your domain and its specific challenges and potential
• Two to three prioritized AI use cases with recognizable business impact
• Comprehensive documentation of all discussions and decisions as a foundation for follow-up projects
• A concrete roadmap for next steps: implementation, prototyping, or design sprints

Workshop Agenda

The workshop lasts approximately six hours and follows a structured process:

1. Check-in and goal alignment: Together we clarify the workshop goals and create a shared understanding of AI Opportunity Mapping.
2. Intro: AI basics & strategic levers: A shared knowledge base on generative AI approaches forms the foundation. We show where AI can be effective: in product development, processes, or at the organizational level.
3. Inspiration: Case studies: Cross-industry examples of successful AI deployment show what’s possible with AI and serve as inspiration for your context.
4. Opportunity mapping: We systematically examine your processes or customer journey: Where are the biggest challenges and untapped potential? We visualize these together and prioritize the most relevant starting points.
5. Ideation: In small groups, you develop initial solution approaches with appropriate AI technologies for the prioritized challenges and opportunities.
6. Structuring and evaluation: You develop the most promising ideas in a structured way and describe them comparably and completely. Then we evaluate all use cases based on impact, feasibility, and data availability, and together select the top 2–3 use cases.
7. Wrap-up & next steps: We summarize the results and define concrete next steps so you can begin implementation.

The AI Opportunity Mapping Canvas is one of the workshop’s central tools. It structures the path from initial idea to implementation planning and guides you through five interconnected areas:

1. Domain: In which area or process are you working?
2. Journey: What problems or inefficiencies exist?
3. Ideation: Which AI approaches could make the biggest difference here?
4. Impact: What value would the solution create – for users, teams, or the business?
5. Roadmap: What next steps are realistic to test or implement the idea?

The canvas works similarly to the Business Model Canvas, but with a focus on AI initiatives. It makes your use cases comparable and helps with prioritization. The accompanying worksheet supports structured completion. The canvas helps systematically unlock AI potential and can also be used independently of the workshop.
