MacJanitor is a free little utility to run the daily, weekly and monthly cron jobs OS X is supposed to run between 3am and 5am (when most users switch their machines off).

Have at look at cronaid[1] It runs the daily/weekly/monthly cron scripts if they haven’t run at their default scheduled times. All that’s necessary is to ensure cronaid will run (via cron) sometime when the system is awake. And Anacron[2] can run any missed cron tasks, not just daily/weekly/monthly like cronaid.
