OpenAPI has become a widely adopted standard for describing APIs, helping align stakeholders across engineering, product, and business domains. As part of the OpenAPI Initiative, we continue to explore how structured API descriptions can support collaboration, automation, and governance across the API lifecycle. This talk will highlight key use cases and organizational benefits of OpenAPI, and then turn to emerging requirements around AI and agents. As machine-driven API consumption grows, we’ll look at how to make APIs more discoverable and usable by software agents—ensuring that API design keeps pace with evolving expectations.
