SOA and Technology

Myself, a year ago:

I believe the real reason is that I’m getting more and more annoyed with the fact that technology is somehow deemed unimportant — too unimportant for high-level architects to waste their time on. But I fundamentally disagree.

It seems I’m not alone anymore :-)

Technology independence is about vendor independence.

That’s an illusion IMO. How many layers do you want to add until you’re independent? I feel that standards are the way to go, but I find encapsulating the standards unconvincing.
